2022 HERE WE COME : 4 EARTHLY GIFTS

 

My 2022 New Year Earthly Gift


Despite the difficult times mother earth is facing, there are thousands of people who still see the joy of being able to take deep breaths without the mask on in the comfort of their homes. Millions of people still get to enjoy the gifts of God: good company, food, shelter, clothings and a chance to breathe pure air and stay healthy and happy.


 

                People still get  to enjoy God's gifts in the form of simple good to eat meals

Well, millions of other people also enjoy the luxury of being alive and healthy with their masks on as well. On an average day, we see hundreds of people walking the earth with their faces half covered in masks and yet enjoying the luxury of life. Eg. eating ice cream, playing snowballs, enjoying a cup of hot tea or coffee, looking at a beautiful flower... the list is endless.

With the 3rd booster dose now,  people are getting their booster doses amidst Christmas and New Year celebration. I went for my booster dose on new year date: 1.1.2022 . My spirit was high and my mood merry. After a quick Christmas biscuit and a hot cup of Milo for the added energy to withstand my booster dose, I went to my centre for my booster dose. Hello! it's New Year 2022!                               

1. Love is Precious! Live to Love💔💗💘

I noticed an old Indian lady and her daughter-in-law accompanied by her grandson and granddaughter. The grandson and granddaughter kept telling the person-in-charge at the registration counter that their grandmother and mother are taking some kind of herbal medicines. The youngsters were so concerned that nothing should happen to their loved ones. The doctor said all is well with the older ladies and send in the old lady and the children's mother to proceed with the jabs. I loved the entire scene because it was such a pleasant feeling to see youngsters loving their old ones. There was so much care and concern in the eyes of the two youngsters. 

Earthly Lesson Number 1: Never assume that your children do not love you!

2. Courteousness makes your day.

As I proceeded  with my booster dose, one young volunteer wished me good morning! I was pleased beyond words! The young  boy suddenly looked so much more higher in rank compared to the the much older and presumably wiser people all around me. The young man's good wishes made my morning! He was like a shining angel when all the rest looked dull and selfish in the pleasant New Year Day! Everyone else only wanted their booster dose and cared for no pleasing words. The young man's words reminded me that, despite the pandemic, courteous people still existed in this world. I felt proud that the courteous young man belongs to my part of the country. 

Earthly Lesson Number 2: Kind words can replace the hidden smile within the mask in the times of Covid!😍

3. Selfishness can never the fashion of the world #

This is the most unbelievable queue-cutting that ever happened in my life. Why? Well in the  first place the 2 doctors who attended the queque-cutters  both looked at me! In their brief encounter with my surprised look, one doctor actually beckoned me to come forward to proceed.  However, I was too stunned at the behaviour of both the men. Being a writer,  my mind came up with a line: Queque cutting is bad. But to cut a woman's queue is  barbarous!

But my polite way of upbringing surged up. "No please attend to the man first doctor", I said. However, even as I was talking another man cut my turn again and pushed forward  with no trace of shame or guilt in his face. This time, the second doctor stood up, stopped the man, and asked me to come up!!!!  

Earthly Lesson Number 3: Youngsters are better behaved, courteous and caring than most adults! I don't blame the youngsters alone for the insensitivities in life! Anyway, this is my personal opinion based on my 2022 new year experience and is not to be taken personally!

4. Old doctor versus young doctor

Finally, with all the formalities and documents checked I reached the booth where the doctors-in-charge of the booster injections were seated.  The young junior doctor who took my document read out : "Astrazeneca for you ma'am" and double-checked my name. I said yes to my name and she told me to sit. 

The other senior doctor who was in charge of injecting me said impatiently: "Astrazeneca', showed me the injection and then injected me.  

The junior doctor  said, 'Bye, have a good day' to  me as she handed over my document and vaccination card. I was so happy that I actually waved and said "good bye" to both the doctors. Only the young one added: Take care!

Earthly Lesson Number 4: Keep your mind and heart happy. The young at heart and mind can truly be happy even in the times of the greatest trials in life! No virus or flood can kill the spirit of a kind and understanding soul.
