A STORY OF A WOMAN (OR MANπŸ™) WHO COULDN'T SLEEP

There is a story of a woman who could not sleep for many years, I was told.


And that inspired me to write this short article on why people cannot sleep or sleep restlessly. 
Or not sleep at all!  🀭 Peaceful sleep seems to  be a distant dream for many of us.

The woman in my story,  had many complaints such as:

1. I cannot sleep peacefully. 

2. I can only sleep in the wee hours of the morning.

3. I have jerky sleeps.

4. My body aches, so I cannot sleep.

5. I have incessant dreams when I get my miserable sleep.

6. My afternoon short momentous naps are infrequent as well.

7. I am afraid of sleeping.

8. My head hurts due to lack of sleep.

9. My mind feels restless all the time.

10. The whole of my existence feels worthless.

11. Sometimes when I could not get even a wink of sleep for days I get constipated.

12. Sometimes I get diarrhoea for days.

13. At other times, I give up pretending to be a normal person.

14. Many a times, I feel the whole world is a drama and I am an actress in the stage of the world.

15. Many nights, I cry secretly blaming the creator for my miserable insomnia.


Note: Actually, the woman in the story has many more complains. But I  am going to stop with the 15 main complains of hers.

Now let us begin our journey to help the poor miserable woman in the story:


At last, SOMEONE is going to solve SLEEP PROBLEMS!

Her Complain number 1.

(πŸ˜₯I cannot sleep peacefully!)

Margarita, (whew!What a name!) get this straight. Peace doesn't ONLY come in sleep. You can get peace when you just close your eyes and think of the loveliest place you visited in your life. Jump into the spot in your imagination. Forget about sleep. Only think of the lovely spot when you were with your loved ones. Now, didn't that give you PEACE? As for the sleep part, it will ultimately come when you forget that you cannot sleep. Hey, you are afterall in the  best place on earth. Somewhere in the land of Machu Pichu, for example! 

LONELY SHEEP IN LAKE TITICACA SITUATED IN THE BORDER BETWEEN PERU AND BOLIVIA. NOTICE THE PEACEFUL EYES OF THE SHEEP.

Her Complaint number 2. 

(😒 I can only sleep in the wee hours of the morning)

Good lord! Sunitha, you mean you only get about 2 to 3 hours per day? Well, another woman I know only gets 2 hours of sleep! Darling, please USE THE compare and contrast STRATEGY! You get about 3 hours. Another woman out there only gets 2 hours. Compare now - Who is better?  In contrast, Sunita dear, you get 1 hour extra sleep than that woman out there. Isn't that great? Now smile and enjoy your 3 hours sleep when it comes!

Her Complaint number 3. 

(I  have jerky sleeps)

Roberta, jerky sleep is better than NO sleep at all. Think of the OWL.πŸ¦‰It stays alert all night long. And gets its well deserved sleep all  day long. Isn't that sweet? 
 
So make the necessary ADJUSTMENTS to your lifestyle and get time to  catch your missed night sleep in the broad daylight. Hey! Even an owl can do it! 

Okay, at this point of my discussion I have to admit something! ACTUALLY, I am not sure if the character in the story I heard is really a woman. It may have been a MAN
                                        
                                             πŸ“’   WHAT? MEN TOO CAN'T SLEEP?

Mmm....Man, Woman .... what does it matter.? Sleep/Sleeplessness is not gender-biased. It can ATTACK anyone. Even, an EARTHWORM sleeps. Or does it ? 

What about mosquitoes? 

AND ANTS. Do ants snooze?

HEY, this is getting a bit childish. Let me get back to the point of discussion.

His Complaint number 4 . 

(😊 HIS? Remember, I said I  forgot the gender in the story I heard....)

                                           (My body aches, I cannot sleep.)

Joseph ..... In the first place think of the reason why your body is aching. Get you data correct. I think you need to exercise less. (What EXERCISE LESS!!!!) 
To my understanding, too much  exercise can tire your body, and together with a poor diet and lifestyle you CAN successfully stay AWAKE because of body and muscle PAIN ALL OVER YOU!! 

Note: Google up for more information (Now this is a very good suggestion. Stay awake and find out the real reasons that IS wrecking your sleep pattern!) His Complaint number 5  (or was it Her?)

(I have incessant dreams when I get my miserable sleep)

George, did I get your name correct? You see dreams are such strange phenomenon! Many soothsayers have come and gone over the course of the history of mankind, trying to understand your problem. 

Clever men and women tried to interpret dreams. Hey, they even have dream-translating books. You dream. You get the dream book. And your try to translate your dreams πŸ˜‡ and get confused than the dream itself! (Ha, ha, πŸ™ )

Seriously: Go get a doctor's advice if your dreams come back over and over and over again! Problem will be settled by the experts. A psychiatric perhaps! I know of a woman who had this kind of dreams. And she went to  see a doc and she sleeps like a baby nowadays even without medications. Problem settled.

Her Complaint number 6. 

(My afternoon short momentous naps are infrequent as well)

Darling Rukku, (is she Tamil?) afternoon naps are good for those people who can enjoy it. Maybe, like me, you are not one of those (lucky?) types.... So no naps in the afternoon or evenings pls! 

HEY, DON'T FROWN! I spend my afternoon and evening writing great blogs and novels! Maybe you can find your favourite thing to do in these times! No harm trying!!!

QUESTION: I can't sleep at night and NOW you are telling me to forgo afternoon naps as well? That's cruel Kala (this is my name♥️πŸ™)

ANSWER: Dearest Rukku. All is fair and square in love and war. In conclusion, what you get is WHAT you get! Remember your Priest in the Temple advice? KARMA!!!

So get back your peace of mind. Relax. Or you can even do YOGA in the afternoon and evening! Of course the best time to do yoga is in the mornings and late evenings. BUT as I said earlier you (and I) are the 'not-so-lucky ones' who can-NOT have the privilege of an afternoon nap! 

Don't worry Rukku, I will be staying awake with you every afternoon and evening for the rest of my 😍 life! 

* Psst, the truth is, I really HATE afternoon naps! πŸ€“

Hey, on second thoughts, maybe it is KARMA that we should be experiencing the same type of sleep timing? Who knows? God is great!

Guys I have to apologise now! I REALLY cannot go on anymore! 

I admit shamelessly! Sleeplessness  is a PROBLEM!
